This was one of the first popular beaches in the area, gaining crowds as early as the late 19th century when bathing in the sea became a fashionable pastime. In 1895, a casino was built on the boulevard behind the beach. Though less crammed than a hundred years ago, it is still a popular wide sandy beach.
