Espace des Producteurs de Montlouis

Huge limestone caves producing Montloius AOC wines.

Updated

Producing a third of the total Montloius AOC wines, these vineyards cover 350 hectares between Montlouis-sur-Loire, St Martin le Beau and Lussault-sur-Loire. It produces both still and sparkling wines in its caves through a cooperative of 25 winegrowers, with winemaking controlled by a Master Winemaker. The ancient limestone quarry cellars are a maze of tunnels containing over two million bottles of wine.

You enter in a former limestone quarry dug at the base of the hill and close to the Loire which allowed the transport of stone blocks. In troglodyte caves, you will trace the life of their wines, the different stages of winemaking to wine tasting of a range of Montlouis through the visit and the video "From Vine to Wine".
