The little known sweet white wines of the Coteaux d'Aubance are produced on the hills close to the Aubance river. The appellation wines cover a tiny area of land growing only Chenin Blanc grapes. Grapes are manually harvested using the goblet method. These wines age well.
The vineyard of the Aubance Coteaux is classified AOC since 1950. It covers an area of about 200 hectares south of Angers on the left bank of the Loire. The vineyards are located on exposed slopes and well ventilated, suitable for over-ripening of the grapes. The wines of the Coteaux de l'Aubance are vinified exclusively from Chenin Blanc (Pineau de Loire).
A beautiful golden yellow color with green hues, the sweet white wine of Coteaux de l'Aubance offers a nice balance between the richness of its flavors and freshness marked by the minerality of its terroir. These qualities can be discovered especially by the tasting of wines offered by the Domaine de Montgilet.
